Milling: give chips a way out

Chip evacuation deserves a separate check alongside vibration. In deep cavities, retained chips may be cut again. A coarser-pitch cutter provides more space for chip evacuation.

CheckQuestion to record
Exit pathWhere can chips leave the pocket or slot?
Delivery systemDoes the approved air or coolant arrangement reach the cutting zone?
Tool selectionIs chip space suitable for this engagement and material?
ORIGINAL OBSERVATION EXAMPLE

Scratches after a pocket pass

Scratches alone do not prove chip recutting. After a safe stop, inspect retained chips and cutting edges, then review evacuation before changing speed. Record the observation and compare the next controlled trial under the same inspection conditions.
