Machining

Milling vibration: check the setup first

Use this short checklist before changing speed and feed. A surface mark or noise is an observation, not a confirmed diagnosis.

CheckReason
Tool assemblyMinimize unnecessary overhang and verify rigid clamping.
Workpiece supportSupport the part against the cutting-force direction.
Cutter engagementReview radial engagement and cutter pitch; many engaged teeth can promote vibration.
ORIGINAL DIAGNOSTIC WORKFLOW

Keep a useful trial record

Record tool, overhang, material, speed, tooth feed, depth and width. After safe inspection, change one approved variable at a time and compare surface quality, sound and tool condition. Log the result even when it does not improve.
