Multi-wire stone saws — 16-wire revision and new 20-wire design
Revision of the earlier 16-wire machine
TOKSEL had built this machine before my involvement, but it developed serious problems at a customer site. I investigated the failure mechanisms on site, reviewed its mechanical design and revised critical functions. These findings informed the design of the next machine.
My new 20-wire machine design
After that revision, I designed the mechanical platform of a new 20-wire saw, including its welded structure, load calculations, bearings, gearbox and drive systems, encoder system, wire guiding and individual pneumatic tensioning. I prepared component sizing and manufacturing documentation, and supported fabrication, assembly, testing and successful commissioning.
