Start with function and references
Define the mechanism, loads, interfaces and manufacturing route before detailing the part. Establish the main planes, axes and interface geometry so later changes have a clear reference.
A practical route from design intent to a controllable CATIA V5 model, drawing and manufacturing handoff.

Use explicit sketch constraints and meaningful parameters. Check the feature tree after changing a controlling dimension. Avoid references to small edges that are likely to disappear during a design change.
Review the motion envelope, collisions, tool access, fastener installation and service clearance. Compare the CAD assembly with the intended installation and adjustment sequence.
Keep the 3D model, drawing revision, material, delivery condition and BOM consistent. Add functional dimensions, datums, fits and inspection requirements to the drawing; the solid model alone does not communicate every manufacturing requirement.
